Design of Retract Mechanism for VTOL UAV Propeller

The objective of this mechanism is give Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capability for fixed wing type UAV. In order to make effective when UAV fly in long range, propeller should be hidden at the body of UAV. However when UAV want to hover, take-off, or landing propeller should be shown. So, we need a mechanism to move the propeller automatically. This paper will discuss on designing the retractable rear propeller mechanism that cause minimum retraction force, and some of detail calculation.
