Opportunistic communications using software defined radio
Adrián Pérez Portero · 2017
The increasing scarcity in the available spectrum is limiting the growth of high bandwidth applications. By exploiting licensed channels when they are unused, Opportunistic Communications aim to use the spectrum in a more efficient way. In this work we will study OFDM as a technique to overlay into licensed channels, and Spectrum Sensing and Spectrum Pooling methods to cause as little interference to the licensed users as possible. We will also study Software Defined Radio as a promising way to test and conceive Cognitive Radio implementations. GNU Radio will be used as the software part to implement the logic, and bladeRF as the hardware to test our hypotheses in realistic environments.
