Introduction to Cybersecurity

In this chapter, the authors address cybersecurity, pure and proper and then layer in privacy. As with anything worth building, they start with a foundation, which will be the establishment of a common language, terminology, definitions, even a sprinkle of history. The authors explore various aspects of privacy with information technology and cybersecurity terms. We need to create a “tech” primer, the go-to reference as we take the next steps of building our program together. The authors provide definitions of various terms related to cybersecurity and privacy to form a technology primer. They explore how much do the readers need to know about information technology and cybersecurity so that we can have an intelligent conversation about their tech environment, business data, personal information, potential threats, and the readers' options to address those threats.
