A total of 77 papers were presented at the symposium. The following subjects were covered: 1) applications of continuous surface mining; 2) operational experience; 3) equipment and equipment selection; 4) modelling and simulation; 5) material diggability and related problems; 6) continuous selective mining; 7) cross-pit-systems; 8) material transportation and other aspects of continuous surface mining technology; 9) dredging; and 10) mine dumps. Forty-seven of the papers were abstracted separately.
