A new approach to data center infrastructure monitoring and management (DCIMM)

Moises Levy, Jason O. Hallstrom · 2017

We propose a new approach to real-time monitoring and management of data center infrastructure using low-power wireless sensors. This system enables monitoring and optimization of parameters such as power, temperature, humidity, airflow, among others. Given the mission critical nature of data centers, the monitoring system must be reliable and deployed through a non-invasive process. This paper describes a monitoring system that collects data to help users make more informed decisions, reduce downtime and cost of operations, improve efficiency, perform energy audits, plan space usage, and develop predictive behavior models.
