The Mobility Barriers Paradigm has strongly influenced much recent work in strategic management research, particularly that of strategic group research.In this note we propose a procedure that enables the identification of those variables that act as mobility barriers in an industry.We also propose a classification of mobility barriers based on the degree of observed mobility and the extent to which change is desired on these variables.Our procedure is demonstrated in the con- text of the pharmaceutical industry.
