Comparative analysis of embedded computing platforms for FIR filter implementation
Pranoti C. Joshi, Deepti Khurge · 2016
The innovation and progress in the embedded technology have led to the advent of variety of architectures based on which a number of embedded computing platforms are available for implementing the design for digital signal processing applications. However the high performance requirements of the applications with shorter time-to-market force the designers to look for alternative platforms. A case study on FIR filters is presented to evaluate the performance of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and Digital Signal Processors (DSPs). An insight to a new emerging platform, SoC-FPGA is provided to foresee the potential benefits provided by it to meet the current market demands of the digital signal processing applications.
