Gravitational search algorithm: Discussion and state of art

The inability of the existing solutions to effectively solve the optimization problems paved the way towards nature for the same. The social and foraging behavior observed in natural phenomena through bees, ants, monkeys and more solved the optimization problems quite effectively. Opposed to the use of groups of organisms, Rashedi et al. proposed using another powerful aspect of nature, gravity, for finding solutions to the optimization problems. Their proposal has continued to be a honey pot for researchers since then; be it extending the algorithm or improving its shortcomings. This paper aims to make the readers up-to-date in context of the algorithm. The algorithm along with recent developments covering the three most plausible aspects of modifications in the same are discussed.
