Performance of ADPCM with different linear predictors

This report gives an overview of the speech coding system based on adaptive differential pulse-code-modulation (APDCM) with a linear predictor. The basic quantisation theory is introduced. It discusses the use of linear PCM for speech coding. It also discusses how the use of non- uniform quantisation, such as logarithmic quantiser, can lead to better SNR performance.
