Customised graphics from FORTRAN programs
David Andrews · Physics World · 1991
Although it is now a little dated, many scientists, including myself, still program in FORTRAN. This is probably largely because many of us were taught computing in FORTRAN, but it is also because it is a reasonably efficient language with a great deal of software already written in it. One of the problems with FORTRAN, as with other languages, is to get a reasonable graphical output, and SKYLINE is designed to do just that. SKYLINE is a scientific plotting package for use with FORTRAN 77. It is designed to be used with a Microsoft compiler on an IBM/PC compatible.
