Opportunistic Wireless Contents Delivery Exploiting Cache Memory at Receivers

Jung Hoon Lee, Wan Choi · 2016

This paper proposes a novel opportunistic wireless contents delivery technique when cache memory at each user is exploited to help contents delivery. Based on the requested file and the memory state information of each user, the transmitter opportunistically selects users and properly encodes the requested files for delivering multiple files simultaneously in the framework of multicast transmission. It is shown that the multiuser diversity is leveraged by cache memory, so our proposed opportunistic wireless contents delivery technique obtains much higher rate compared to conventional opportunistic multicast transmission. For two-user cases, we find the exact caching gain with respect to the memory size in high SNR region.
