Sports engineering including technology, innovation and product contributes the development of the training programs and plans of sport. In Judo, motion capture technology has been used for the lab-based analysis in order to create and implement the training programs for individual level. In this research we propose a Judo motion capture system for improving the struggle skill analysis and comparing with two measurements using field analysis and video-based analysis. Traditional 3D motion capture system is applied for recording the struggle motion using our proposed sensor positions. The experiment is conducted by recording the struggle of Judo Black Belt Thailand National Team players training for national-level and university-level competition. The measurement and analysis of the two groups of player with the three difference methods were performed by three Thailand National instructors. The statistical analysis of the data set shows that using the proposed Judo motion capture system can significantly improve the measurement and analysis of the Judo struggle comparing to the video-based and field-based method. The instructors can also observe the positions and movements of the subject players more clearly than the other two methods.
