Adaptive Yin-Yang-Pair Optimization on CEC 2016 functions
Varan Punnathanam, Prakash R. Kotecha · 2016
The recently proposed Yin-Yang-Pair Optimization metaheuristic was modified to better utilize the unidirectional and multi-directional search by setting the probability for one-way splitting as a function of the problem dimension. This allows the algorithm to adapt to a change in problem dimension more effectively, as it was observed the multi-directional search is more efficient on problems with relatively higher dimension. The performance of this variant of YYPO is evaluated on the problems part of the CEC 2016 Special Session and Competition on Single Objective Real-Parameter Numerical Optimization. The algorithm was shown to perform well on most of the problems.
