On the Minimum Surface Leakage Distances.

On the insulation design about the electrical machines, the cleaned surface of insulating materials are generally treated, without objecting the materials which are wet or dirty. On the other hand, from the stand point of practical use, the later case will be more important than the former case. One important phase of this broad problem is the establishment of minimum surface leakage distance, and in an effort to establish reliable values for leakage distance, the factors which effect them, were examined and evaluated. A knowledge of these factors will lead to the establishment of minimum safe leakage distances which is mandatory if complete freedom from insulation breakdown is to be obtained in a compact design.
