Oh dear, the very title of Chris Rand's article, A tale of two computers, tells it all (February p69). IBMs and Macs – but not much about any other computers. Many of the statements he makes are simply wrong. For example, he says, In the last few years the only rival to the 80x86 has been the 680x0 processor found in the Apple Mac. He also says, The newer alternative is RISC technology, an example of which is making a lone, but serious, threat to the future of the ubiquitous 80x86. This is the Power PC ...adopted by Apple.
