ClouT: Cloud of Things for Empowering Citizen's Clout in Smart Cities
Kenji Tei, Levent Güreen, Takuro Yonezawa · 2016
This chapter presents an overview of the ClouT concept, the project, and the ClouT reference architecture for smart cities. ClouT's overall concept is to leverage Cloud Computing as an enabler to bridge the Internet of Things with Internet of People via Internet of Services. ClouT aims to establish an efficient communication and collaboration platform exploiting all possible information sources, to make cities smarter and help them to face the emerging challenges of efficient energy management, economic growth and development. ClouT will use Cloud models and technologies as a foundation for bridging the IoT with Internet of People, via Internet of Services, empowering citizens in a ClouT-enabled Smart City. The ClouT approach demonstrates that it can be specialized for application to SmartCities. Cloud technology provides these features with elasticity and cost-effectiveness, enabling small (but also big) municipalities to provide services on a scale as required, and to pay only for the resources used.
