Innovative Computing Systems in Volume Rendering for the Medical Images
Bogdan Popa · 2016
Direct volume visualization is an efficient technique to explore complex structures within volumetric data. The main advantage, compared to standard 3D surface rendering, is the possibility to perform semi-transparent rendering in order to provide more information about spatial relationships of different structures. The enormous data sizes introduce a growing demand for interactive 3D visualization. Within this paper a set of approaches to handle and render large volumetric data is developed, enabling significant performance improvements due to a much better utilization of the CPUs processing power and available memory bandwidth. This paper propose a new innovative discussion over the volume rendering for the medical images, a comparison over some techniques that involves a huge amount of memory and uses of big computer resources and a lot of processing time.
