Robots in the Digitalized Workplace
Jochen J. Steil, Günter W. Maier · 2017
This chapter presents a mixture of related research from human-robot interaction to a description of likely implications. It focuses on the sector of industrial production because it will be the first and, by far, the most relevant application field in the near future. Indeed, many companies have already started to create reference and test applications for assistive tasks in this field. The chapter introduces some aspects of the novel and advanced robot technology that are highly relevant to user interaction and the digitalization of production. It analyzes the implications from different viewpoints of the user perspective, including deliberations on the relevance of personalization and connections to big-data processing. The chapter discusses the issue from the developer's and system designer's perspective. It considers the implications for the future of work in the digitalized age as well as psychological implications.
