With the dramatically increasing of data volume, more and more enterprises and personal users move their data to cloud storage system. The drawbacks of single cloud promote the concept of multi-cloud storage. One key topic of multi-cloud storage is the selection of service providers. Bo Mao et al proposed a hybrid redundant data distribution approach (HyRD). But as time goes by, HyRD incurs extra waste of storage space and cost because the deduplication of cloud itself is not suitable for multi-cloud and specialized deduplication mechanism needs to be proposed. This paper improves the HyRD model by applying the deduplication method. We propose a two-level method based perfect hashing to perform the deduplication. The results of simulation experiments shows that the cost efficiency of the optimized HyRD, named O-HyRD, has been improved.
