A. Nishino, Akio M. SUGISAKI · Nihon Kokai Gakkaishi/Nihon Kōkai Gakkaishi · 1970

The authors derived an avoiding method in radar navigation from the examinations of various situations which are dangerous in point of collision with a digital computer. At that stage, the results are as follows. (1) When γ, which is an angle in fig.1 (∠OTH), is greater than the aspect, it is very difficult to avoid coming into collision with the target. In contrast with this situation, it is easier. (2) When a target is on the starboard bow, it is advisable to alter the course to the starboard in order to avoid coming into collision with effect. (3) The angle of alteration of the course to avoid coming into collision changes less than the relative bearing of a target in a situation.
