A New Image Inpainting Algorithm Based on DCT Similar Patches Features

This paper proposes to use a smooth patch ordering approach for incomplete image initialization and employs discrete cosine transform tight frame system to extract the local features of the image patches in the frequency domain. The similarities of the local features are utilized to determine the similar image patch sets in the original image space. Moreover, an iterative convergence algorithm, namely alternating direction method of multipliers, is utilized to solve the image inpainting model. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves superior performance against some state-of-the-art inpainting methods.
