Discovery and Identification of an Application for Inter-Application Communication on a Home Network Using UPnP

Thousands of applications are available for Desktop, Smartphone and Tablet environments.The inter-application communication across these devices is very limited while using them on a home network to share data.This paper discusses about the possibility of inter-application communication across devices on a home network using UPnP.It provides a mechanism to discover and identify an application on a home network using an Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) for the inter-application communication.This paper also demonstrate the discovery and identification of an application on a home network using UPnP with a prototype implementation.
