Recognition of Chinese characters

The machine recognition of the 26 letters of the Roman alphabet presents some difficult problems and it does not take much imagination to see that the recognition of Chinese characters is vastly more complex. The reduction of this complexity would therefore be of great help, and we shall describe in this article a means of simplifying the problem.
