Low complexity and quasi-linear phase IIR filters design based on iterative convex optimization

Jinghong Tan, Jiajia Chen · 2016

An iterative optimization approach to design IIR digital filters with nearly constant group delay is proposed. This method aims to minimize the deviation of group delay under the constraint that the magnitude specification and stability based on argument principle is satisfied while keeping hardware cost as small as possible. Experiment results show that the required filter designed by proposed method can achieve less group delay deviation by 10.98% to 29.51% when comparing with several state-of-art IIR design methods. At the same time, the hardware complexity of the designed IIR filters in terms of full adder cost has been reduced by 20.10% on average.
