A language for distributed processing

Ronald J. Price · afips · 1899

The main question being addressed here is, what is a good way to program a multiple processor system (whether tightly or loosely coupled) to accomplish an integral distributed processing applicationƒ Writing concurrent programs for a uniprocessor is tough enough, but writing programs which interact and operate simultaneously in parallel can be a most difficult and frustrating experience. Opportunities abound for operational failures due to race conditions, for time-dependent bugs and for deadlock situations.
