Due to the rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT), various IoT platforms and protocols are proposed to interconnect a mass of IoT devices. Thus, high heterogeneity among IoT standards reduces the interoperability among IoT devices. This paper designs and implements one bi-directional communication framework to allow IoT devices supporting different application-layer network protocols, e.g., HTTP, CoAP and MQTT, to exchange data. Our main contribution is to integrate the software-defined network (SDN) technique into the proposed framework. Therefore, the original communication scenarios of three network protocols can be preserved without further modification.
