Web services composition receives an increasing attention as a concept to build business processes from. This paper addresses the heterogeneity of business process modeling specifications in the area of web services. A new concept called metadata relationships (MR) is introduced to describe the semantic relationship between concepts from two different XML Schemas. This approach is applied for the comparison of concepts from BPML and BPEL4WS, the two major proposals to become a standard in the area of Web Service composition.
