Fifth international congress on acoustics Liège, September 1965

M E Delany · Physics Bulletin · 1966

Every three years acousticians from all parts of the world meet together to discuss common problems and to report on recent progress; previous congresses have been held at Delft, Cambridge (Mass.), Stuttgart, Copenhagen and this year the fifth I.C.A. was held in Liege from 7th to 14th September. These congresses are sponsored by the International Commission on Acoustics, one of the specialized commissions of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, under UNESCO. Whereas at the first congress in Delft 390 delegates attended and 100 papers were read, a record number of 1150 delegates plus 350 of their wives and children, from 39 countries, attended this year and 440 papers were presented in one of the official languages, English, French or German.
