IoT REVOLUTION IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY

Internet of Things (loTs) is a popular term in the context of the emerging technology revolution that has created a highly connected world. The oil and gas (O&G) industry cannot remain immune to the impact of IoT. O&G industry has one of the most complex operations of any industry. A simple error in operations could be fatal in terms of human life; hence the industry focuses a lot of health, safety, and environment (HSE) metrics, and the higher safety score of HSE derives the business strategy and then the revenue and profits. Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) is the name for remote monitoring and controlling machines using coded signals over communication channels. It is a type of industrial control system (ICS). The traditional SCADA systems leverage extensively the human-machine interface (HCI) so that human operators can take appropriate actions needed to run smooth operations.
