Design of a STFT hardware kernel for spectral Doppler processing in portable ulrasound systems
Song-Nien Tang · 2016
This paper presented a four-stream 128-point STFT (Short Time Fourier Transform) hardware kernel for time-frequency analysis in ultrasound spectral doppler operations. The proposed STFT kernel was designed with the radix-2/8/8 pipelined FFT (Fast Foureier Transform) architecture using hybrid four/eight parallel data paths. In our design, a pure constant-based multiplication unit was developed together with a proposed novel resourece-sharing scheme. Thus, by the proposed design, the STFT operation can be perfomred in a hardware-efficient manner, lending the support to portable ultrasound system applications.
