Comparison of Fuzzy-PID controlled single phase static reactive power compensator with different membership functions

The present study was conducted using static reactive power compensator (SVC), and fixed capacity-thyristor controlled reactor (FC-TCR). In the study, PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivate) parameters were adjusted to self-adjusting mode via fuzzy logic (FL) applications of Fuzzy-PID algorithm with triangle, trapezoid membership functions (Model 1) and Fuzzy-PID algorithm with gauss and sigmoid membership functions (Model 2). The performance of two models with different membership functions was compared. The compensator was controlled with programmable logic controller (PLC). Additionally, the system was monitored and controlled during the whole process with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system.
