Delhi High Court rules out copyright infringement in reproductions of large portions of books

In its decision of 16 September 2016, the Delhi High Court dismissed an action brought by five publishers seeking permanent injunctive relief against Rameshwari Photocopy Service (Defendant 1) and the University of Delhi (Defendant 2) for infringing the copyright in their publications by means of large scale photocopying, reproduction and distribution of unauthorized copies, including by means of unauthorized sales as course packs of compilations of substantial extracts from the claimants’ publications.
