Accelerated Parallelism in Numerical Simulation with C++ AMP

Si‐Hai Wu, Zhao Hu, Peng Haotian, Chen Lu · 2016

C++ Accelerated Massive Parallelism(C++AMP) is Microsoft's technology for accelerating C++ applications by allowing code to run on data-parallel hardware like graphics-processing units(GPUs.) Staggered-grid finite difference method is the main method to analyses wave field characteristics. Seismic modeling is extensive used in seismic acquisition and the FWI.But number of grid increased to ten million, even a hundred million in 3-D numerical simulation. It's very time - consuming with conventional serial computation methods. That has restricted the development of 3-D numerical simulation. This paper mainly researches the 3-D numerical simulation using FD method with C++AMP, and compares the serial computation and OpenMP. The test results show that C++ AMP will enhance the efficiency performance of 3-D numerical simulation. The way to improve efficiency is a key problem.
