The offline signature verification is an automatic verification system that works on the scanned image of a signature. Signature verification uses the gray level measure with varying foreground features. The signature verification is performed by identifying feature vector using local patterns. Before extracting the features preprocessing of scanned images are performed by taking isolated signature part and removing the background. After preprocessing, the signature models are trained with genuine signatures and tested with forgeries. The signatures are tested on MCYT data set and verification is performed using k-Nearest Neighbor Classifier (KNNC) and Linear Discriminant Classifier (LDC).
