Implementation of colour image steganography using LSB and edge detection technique: A LabVIEW approach

Shruti C. Dande, S. S. Agrawal, Sunil R. Hirekhan · 2016

Steganography is the practice of hiding information and is well known for concealing the existence of the communication. This technique deals with the insertion of the secret message in an appropriate carrier like image, audio or video. Out of these carriers digital images are mostly preferred because of their wide usage on the Internet. LabVIEW software has been used for execution of steganography. This paper explains insertion of secret message in the Least Significant Bit (LSB) of edge pixels of cover image. Secret message is embedded by using two approaches, in the first approach message is in the original binary form and in other approach complemented form of binary converted message, in order to enhance security. Stego image obtained at the transmitter end is similar to cover image. Stego image has the secret message embedded inside. At the receiver side the secret message is retrieved by extracting LSBs from edge pixels stego image. Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) is used as a measure of performance analysis.
