Keywords. Impulsive noise, median filter, sorting procedure, dual core. Abstract. An efficient removal impulse noise algorithm is presented for restoration of images that are highly corrupted. This algorithm has much better image quality than a median filter. It removes only corrupted pixel by the median value or by its neighboring pixel value. The paper focuses on a real time implementation using the Blackfin microcomputer (Analog Devices) that involves the high parallelism both in software and hardware of this processor.
