Fuzzy models of topological relationships based on the PHI-descriptor

Pascal Matsakis, M. Naeem · 2016

A relative position descriptor is a basis from which fuzzy models of spatial relationships can be derived. Several descriptors have been proposed in the literature, and they have found a variety of applications. The PHI-descriptor, introduced in previous work, allows the modeling of a large number of relationships. We show here that it can be used to develop crisp and fuzzy models of topological relationships. None of the other descriptors, most of which focus on directional or set relationships, have that capability.
