Iris recognition system is an attractive technology for identification. Unlike other biometric technologies this system has numerous advantages such as reliability, uniqueness and stability. This paper is mainly focused on extracting texture feature of an image using GLCM (gray level co-occurrence matrix)technique. GLCM is a non-filter based technique representing spatial relation between different intensity values. The iris region is firstly localised by using combination of both circular Hough transform and canny edge detector. The texture features are extracted from normalised image. The value of contrast, dissimilarity, energy and entropy is computed. Results are demonstrated by using CASIA iris database and MATLAB v13.0.
