On the formal foundations of PUFs and related primitives

This thesis deals with the formal foundations of so-called “physical unclonable functions” (PUFs) and related, disorder-based cryptographic primitives. We develop formal definitions, lead security proofs, and devise new, practically relevant attack strategies, with whom existing PUF-schemes can be attacked. The thesis contributes to sustainably consolidating the foundations of the area, solving a task that is vital and indispensable for its sound long-term development.
