Collusion Secure Scalable Video Fingerprinting Scheme

Video fingerprinting is a technology to prevent multimedia piracy. Fingerprint codes identify each user uniquely and are embedded in video through robust watermarking techniques. A powerful class of attacks in multimedia fingerprinting is known as collusion attacks, where a group of users each hav- ing a copy of the same multimedia content with dif- ferent fingerprints, combine their copies to form an unmarked copy. Orthogonal modulation and code modulation are the major techniques in fingerprint- ing. The common method of code design is based on Balanced incomplete block design (BIBD). In both the methods for large number of users even a small fraction of the total colluders cannot be de- tected. This paper proposes a video fingerprinting algorithm that is resistant to collusion attacks for a large user group. The BIBD matrix is modified to form fingerprinting codes that are collusion re- sistant even if all the users collude. Each bit of the code is inserted in a separate video frame. This en- ables to represent the fingerprint code by only two orthogonal signals and improves the colluder de- tection for large user group.
