On maximization of energy efficiency in AF cooperative systems with imperfect CSI

Emna Ben Yahia, Noureddine Hamdi · 2016

Maximization of the Energy Efficiency (EE) is considered as a main objective in the design of modern wireless networks. In this paper, we address the energy efficiency enhancement of dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative relay systems considering imperfect statistical channel state information (CSI) over Rayleigh fading channels. We first formulate the expression of the EE. Then, based on the estimated CSI, the energy of both the source and the relay is allocated to maximize the EE. To resolve the optimization problem, we develop an algorithm that uses the Dinklebach method and calculates iteratively the energy-efficient power allocation solution. Numerical results are used to show that the aforementioned system can achieve higher energy efficiency for smaller error channel estimations.
