First steps toward a cognitive architecture based on adaptive automata

We introduce the use of adaptive automata as a basis for information representation to build a cognitive architecture. We discuss some fundamental issues of the cognitive processes from the conceptual and functional points of view, with the purpose of setting an operational framework to develop methodologies for simulation and project of cog- nitive characters and robots.
