Stephen M. V. Hailes · Communications Engineer · 2005
Wireless technologies are becoming sufficiently cheap that the network is about to become as truly pervasive as computing devices already are. However, before we can truly reach a point at which the benefits are fully realized, there are two major hurdles that need to be overcome. Firstly, software development must become easier in that it must move towards standardized generic programming platforms that open the marketplace and facilitate innovation. Secondly, to the extent that the public and opinion formers are aware of the activity, concerns about privacy and personal security must be addressed.
