Sound field reproduction system exploiting cross-talk cancellation adaptive filter

Sachio Saiki, Masahiro Fukumoto, Ligang Liu · 2009

Cross-talk components severely degrade the audio quality in multiple channel sound field reproduction system. A design for an adaptive inverse filter focused on cross-talk component cancellation is described. The inverse filter is traditionally an effective method to cancel the cross-talk component. In order to compensate for crosstalk components in multiple channel situation much more inverse filters are introduced into the system. The inverse filters are added prior to the loudspeakers to modify the input signals of the loudspeakers so that the inverse filters can compensate for both cross-talk components and room transfer response. As a result the signals recorded at the control points in the recording space are reproduced exactly at the points in the listening space. Some experimental results are illustrated.
