Digital Notch Filters-A Number Theoretic Approach
Siwoo Noh, Fred J. Taylor · 2006
Intentional and unintentional narrowband jamming is a continuing problem in the fields of communication, instrumentation, control, and others. A mitigating agent is a digital narrowband incision, or notch filter. Unfortunately, achieving high-speed along with programmability, frequency selectivity, low-complexity, at a low cost is a goal that is difficult to achieve. This paper presents a new number theoretic enabled design paradigm for creating high-performance notch filters. The design strategy leads to a linear-phase Type I incision filter solution that can be implemented without need of a single multiplication. As a result the developed notch filters can meet the most elevated speed, packaging, and power requirements found in mobile wireless and similar application domains.
