Urmila N. Shrawankar, Sayli Dixit · International Conference on Computing for Sustainable Global Development · 2016

Human being interaction is normally done with the help of natural language i.e. words, sentences etc or with the help of sign language. Tactile Sign language bridges the gap even for the person who are hearing impaired and the person who can hear. Using a combination of symbols and hand movements, sign language is an effective method of communication that provides hearing impaired person a way to interact with the world around them. Understanding and learning of sign language is not only for the hearing impaired, it's also for those who interested in being able to communicate with the deaf/dumb people. This project will convert video of daily commonly used full sentence interaction (hand movement) into a text. Recognition of hand movements from persistent frames will be done by using sequence of image processing techniques. Sentence formation is done using NLP engine.
