Micropacs: Association Of Small-size LAN And ISDN For Remote Image Consultation

In order to make Picture Archiving and Communication Systems a practical reality, it appeared necessary to build a network that integrates and optimizes production management, analysis and storage of images. To solve the various technical problems related to small-size PACS implementation, MicroPACS, a local area network, was developed around PC - like microcomputers. Every necessary function is assessed and implemented : centralized data base, distributed image bank, three levels of storage, and a specific task for images exchanges. An additional protocol was also developed for remote consultation through ISDN.
