DIASE — Expert System Fault Diagnosis for Timisoara 220 kV Substation

The paper describes the DIASE (the acronym for "Diagnoza Incidentelor si Avariilor in Statiile Electrice" - Substations Events and Faults Diagnosis) expert system for Timisoara 220 kV substation. The purpose of DIASE is to offer explanations for and solutions to the substation's operators in the case of faulty phone link to the dispatcher. The diagnosis method uses reasoning based on rules inferred form the operation of the substation's primary equipment and main bus bar and autotransformer protections. DIASE's platform is the Prolog language. In the end, the paper presents some conclusions resulting from a DIASE off-line test.
