SOC for telephone terminal with SMS support

The achievement that short message service thrived in GSM leads to the extension to PSTN. A SOC is designed based on MCS51 compatible 8 bit MCU core. Dedicated DTMF, FSK transmitter and receiver using 1 bit quantify are presented in this paper. By this way, analog to digital converter is saved and design reusability is improved remarkable. The chip in fabricated using 0.25 /spl mu/m CMOS technology and the core area is 1.1 mm /spl times/ 1.1 mm.
