Working Memory Space Optimized Implementation Of Shape-based Interpolation Algorithm

There are many challenging and valuable applications of 3-dimensional reconstruction and display of medical and biological images. Often the data is in the form of axial slices which are poorly sampled when compared with resolution on the slice, making interpolation imperative. A working memory efficient implementation of the Raya-Udupa algorithm has been presented. Quadtree and chain encoded data are used as input, resulting in an efficient algorithm with small data memory requirement. The 3-D objects can be either directly visualised on a graphics display or stored on permanant media.
